Well as the sun rose and glistened off the lake and the birds deserted the trees all around the golf course, even some of the ducks left the lake just in case, as this was the vice captain Martin Sherry's prize. Martin came into the car park dressed in what only can be described as colourful flamboyant and bright, but then the smell wafted from his breakfast van, which soon took the eye of his trousers, yes the makings of a jumbo breakfast roll for everyone on the course, obviously cooked by him, with some help from Edel I'm sure.
So as the golf commenced and battle started and one by one we returned to the clubhouse, most of us realising that next year would be better! There was one man who stood alone in the crowd, with a smile as wide as the 2nd fairway, some people say he is the quiet man, some know him as the junior professional trainer, however we all know him as simply the STIG Frank Fahy, a true legend of a golfer and a worthy winner.
Well done Frank, a terrific score of nett 56, closely followed by Peadar Quealy nett 57, serious golf lads. Now Martin has promised a Ferrari as first prize and a sleeve of golf balls for second, Frank you can always take the cash. Well done Martin, over 50 turned out to support you as our incoming captain, which shows the commitment and support of the members for our pending captain.
Next weekend is the October medal which is also a G.O.Y competition, the timesheet is posted on the website below and in the clubhouse. The entry sheet for the Towns Cup on October 20th is also posted in the clubhouse.
