The sun shone long and hard this past weekend as Virginia Golf Club President Michael Callaghan hosted his Prize Day. 92 members, plus the guests of Mr President, teed up over the weekend and responded with a very competitive display with the first “Major” of the year on the line. Eddie Moore was a model of consistency through the day shooting a 1 over par Gross round in the 18-hole qualifier followed by a similar score in the evening 9-hole playoff to take his first big title by 3 shots over Seamus Sheridan. Eddie’s golf over the past year has been a model of consistency and this prize is just rewards for his play in that time.

President Michael presented his prizes in an outdoor, socially distanced, setting, to all the winners and was especially pleased to present his Prizes to the Ladies with his sister Marese being a very popular winner of this competition in 2021. Michael has been an outstanding President for Virginia Golf Club, his enthusiasm and passion for the club evident every single day. He has made hugely valuable contributions behind the scenes where his experience has proved to be an exceptional asset for the Golf Club.

We have mentioned on many occasions the appreciation of the Golf Club to Victor Nesbitt, our Course Manager, Brian Cullen and Peter Foran, our Greenkeepers who keep surpassing themselves with the quality of the Golf Course. The course was at its best this past weekend with greens running fast and pure. The comments from all who played were 100% positive. Many thanks, again, to all three from an eternally grateful Golf Club.
